Making objects restrict in Promethean Activinspire software is just one of the many features that can enhance your flipchart lessons and make them more interactive. When you restrict an object or a pull tab in Inspire, you are limiting the direction that the object can move. In the video I restricted the pull tab to move only horizontally. Below are some ideas of why you may want to use restricted pull tabs in your lesson.
- After reading a story aloud, either by the teacher or cd, you may want to have discussion questions on your pull tabs on both sides of your flipchart. This way, you can still have your questions on the page, but they will be neat, tidy, and at your fingertips for asking the questions to your students.

Do you see the black arrows? They are pointing to the pull tabs that are off to the side of my flipchart. |

Here you can see how I have pulled the tabs out. I can use these to ask questions about the story to my students. |
- When students are working independently at the board or as a group in reading and/or math stations, you may want to provide restricted pull tabs on the side of your lesson so student can check their work without the teacher. (There is a good example of this in my video).

You can see the pull tab is off to the side and it says check answer. |

I pulled the tab out onto my flipchart. You can see how the students would be able to check their answer without the teacher's help when working independently, or in a group! |
When students are working independently at the board or as a group, you may want to provide directions to the activity on a restricted pull tab. (There is a good example of this in the video).

This picture shows directions on the pull tab. This is a great way for students to read the directions without the directions taking up a lot of space on the flipchart page. They can move the pull tab back when they are finished reading and it doesn't interfere with their lesson. |
Below is a video tutorial. Feel free to start and stop this video as much as you need while you practice in ActivInspire. This is a great way to add interactivity and independence in your Promethean ActivInspire Flipchart Lessons.
