0 My Top 10 ActivInspire Control Shortcuts to Save You Time!

Are you a control freak like me?  This is a pun on words of course.  In the past year I have started using many control shortcuts in ActivInpsire.  It has made my flipchart creation much quicker and I spend less time clicking and opening tools and menus.  Here are some great control shortcuts that I use that may be helpful to try when you create your flipchart lessons.

1.  CONTROL + SHIFT + K =  This is the shortcut for the area CAMERA tool.  This is much faster than clicking on the camera in your toolbar, and/or finding camera from the top menu bar. 

2.  CONTROL + I - The shortcut for INSERTING A PAGE comes in handy, especially when flipchart creating from my computer.  This shortcut inserts a blank page after your current page.  

3.  CONTROL + C - This is the shortcut for copy.  Rather than dragging to another page, just control C to copy, and then control V to paste onto your new page.  This is an easy shortcut that also works in other programs like:  Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and many more. 

4.  CONTROL + A - This is the shortcut for SELECT ALL.  This is great when you have one or two items on your page that you need to delete.  Just control A and then press delete, rather than dragging a box and then deleting.  It saves only seconds, but when making a flipchart, the seconds add up to add a bunch of time to your flipchart creating. 

5.  CONTROL + Q - This is the shortcut for INSERTING A QUESTION(S).  This opens up your question editor and makes it quicker to add questions, either self-paced, or individually to your flipchart page.

6.  CONTROL + N - The shortcut for a NEW FLIPCHART.  This automatically opens up a new flipchart in ActivInspire. 

7.  CONTROL + O - The shortcut for OPEN.  This opens the browser to open a previously saved flipchart.  Quick and easy to use when needed to open a previously saved flipchart to edit. 

8.  CONTROL + Z and CONTROL + Y - These are the shortcuts for UNDO and REDO.  This shortcut is one of the most time savers.  Rather than clicking and deleting on mistakes, a simple click of the control plus these letters undoes and redoes several previous actions.  Inspire doesn't have an unlimited undo, but definitely enough to save you tons of time. 

9.  CONTROL + D - This is the shortcut for duplicate.  Instead of clicking on your item, then the duplicate icon in the marquee toolbar, just click control and d to duplicate items.  

10.  CONTROL + B - This is the shortcut for your BROWSERS.  How many times have you went to your top menu bar, clicked view, and then browsers?  Control and B will save you a ton of time. 

There are a few more control shortcuts in Inspire, but these are the most useful and save me the most time when creating flipcharts.  Some would argue that control + S for saving your flipchart is handy; however, I never just save.  I always save as.  This way I can add to my flipchart, or publish it and save it with another name without rewriting over or losing the original.
