This is one of the most fun ways I have ever called on my students. They love it, and beg for me
to use this when I call on them from now on. It will take a little work on your part to set it up, but I
have made the flipchart template for you, to make it a whole lot easier. Here's the basics:
I went to PHOTOFUNIA.com. It's a free website photo editor. It allows you to insert pictures into real photos. Here is an example below using my picture.
First, I took each student's picture. Then, I saved them in a folder on my desktop called kids - name it whatever.
Then, I went to PHOTOFUNIA.com and clicked on the effect or photo I wanted. Not all of them are appropriate for school, but tons are. Use your judgement, you know what is acceptable for classroom use.
After picking my effect, I clicked choose file. I then browsed for my "kids" folder on my desktop, found the picture I wanted to use and clicked go. It generates in less than a minute (depending on the size of your picture) and then a save option comes up. I clicked regular and then saved it with a new name to my "kids"folder. I then clicked delete used images, so my original picture would disappear.
Now you have all of your pictures changed and into different effects, all in a folder on your desktop.
I created the ActivInspire flipchart below. It has already been set up with directions on how to insert your images and use the random chooser. I DID NOT include the actual one I use in my classroom as it contains students pictures; however, I created one that had my family's pictures in it, so you can see how it should be used.
If you read the directions and follow them carefully, you will have a super fun way to randomly call on students all of the time. They will think you are the most fun teacher ever, since you made them look famous.
